HERSHEY, Pa. — State health officials kicked off EMS Week in Pennsylvania with a visit to the Life Lion hangar on the campus of Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Department of Health Deputy Secretary Ray Barishansky and state EMS Director Dylan Ferguson visited with Penn State Health EMS and Critical Care Transport providers and staff on Monday (May 21).

In addition to Barishansky and Ferguson, Dr. Jeff Lubin, vice chair of emergency medicine and prehospital division chief, Dr. Chadd Nesbitt, medical director for Life Lion EMS, and Rep. Tom Mehaffie gave brief remarks. Dr. Susan Promes, chair of emergency medicine, emceed the event, which also included a tour of the hangar and EMS facility.

This was the kickoff event of several that the Department of Health is hosting across the Commonwealth to celebrate EMS Week, which runs from May 20 to 26.
