UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Summer Founders Program, created last year to help entrepreneurial Penn State students work on their startup businesses and projects for social good, is accepting applications for the summer session. The program awards $10,000 in funding to selected applicants. The deadline for applying is 5 p.m. Feb. 19.
The Summer Founders Program was founded as part of the Invent Penn State initiative, and is funded by a number of Penn State alumni and entrepreneurs. The goal of the program is to help students solve real-world problems, develop their entrepreneurial skills and work with other developers of businesses and nonprofits.
Teams that are selected will spend May 26-Aug. 7 in State College developing their ideas, working on their businesses and meeting weekly with other entrepreneurs and mentors. Applicants must be available to spend the 10 weeks in State College focused on their projects.
Applications are accepted from individuals, but teams of two to three are preferred. Each team that is selected will receive $10,000 to work on their projects. The teams will be selected March 4.
