ERIE, Pa. — Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, will hold an information open house on Thursday, April 14, for its free college-prep summer programs, Minority College Experience (MCE) and Women in Science and Engineering (WISE).

High school juniors and their parents are invited to attend the information session, which begins at 7 p.m. in the second-floor auditorium of the Reed Union Building.

MCE and WISE give high school juniors the opportunity to take a free course for college credit plus participate in field trips, workshops, mentoring programs and other learning experiences. Students who complete either program with a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher will be assured admission to Penn State Behrend the following year.

In addition to free tuition, MCE and WISE students also are given textbooks, parking permits or bus passes, and a lunch stipend.

MCE is open to male and female students of color, and to any student from an economically disadvantaged background. WISE seeks female students of all backgrounds who want to explore career opportunities in the math, science, engineering, and health professions.

The deadline to apply to either program is Thursday, April 28. For an application or additional information about MCE or WISE, visit behrend.psu.edu/mcewise or contact Penn State Behrend admissions counselor Melissa Grimm at 814-898-6100 or mgrimm@admissions.psu.edu.
