UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) has named Jenna Fox as its fall 2024 student marshal. She will lead the procession of IST graduates during the commencement ceremony, which will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, in the Bryce Jordan Center at University Park.
Student marshals are selected for their outstanding academic achievements and contributions to student life. Fox majored in cybersecurity analytics and operations with a focus on geopolitics and minored in political sciences. A Schreyer Honors Scholar, she earned dean’s list honors every semester and was the recipient of several scholarships. Her honors thesis was, “Analyzing the Role of Gamification in Cybersecurity Education for Beginners.”
“To have the honor of representing the College of IST during the fall 2024 commencement is something I am truly grateful for,” Fox said. “The students and faculty in IST have provided me with countless opportunities to grow as both a professional and an individual, and it has shaped my experience here at Penn State.”
Fox served as a learning assistant in the College in IST and held leadership positions with the Penn State Competitive Cybersecurity Organization (CCSO). Additionally, Fox represented Penn State at multiple regional and national cybersecurity competitions through CCSO. She also participated in the Penn State club archery team.
“The most important thing I’ve learned at Penn State is the value of the people you surround yourself with,” Fox said. “CCSO allowed me to learn from so many talented individuals — both older and younger — and I credit those relationships to the success I’ve found outside the classroom and as I start my career. They also sparked a passion to continue sharing what I’ve learned to give others an avenue to find themselves in such a large field.”
As an undergraduate student, Fox completed internships at Digital Cloak and Security Risk Advisors (SRA). She continues to work for SRA part-time and, following graduation, will transition to a full-time position as an advisory red consultant in penetration testing.
