College of IST welcomes two new members to Dean’s Advisory Board

Andy Duffett and Corey Lee will bring expertise and guidance in their three-year terms

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The College of Information Sciences and Technology recently welcomed two new members to its Dean’s Advisory Board: Andy Duffett, senior vice president, Global Revenue Operations at CrowdStrike, and Corey Lee, enterprise security executive for U.S. Education at Microsoft Corporation.

They join other Penn State alumni, friends and corporate leaders on the Dean’s Advisory Board to provide strategic guidance and counsel to shape the future of the college. They each recently began serving a three-year term.

“Andy and Corey bring unique perspectives to our board that will improve how we support and prepare our students, engage in collaborative research, and build meaningful partnerships,” said Andrew Sears, dean of the College of IST. “I’m excited to leverage their expertise and guidance as the College of IST continues to grow and evolve to meet our ever-changing information economy.”

Andy Duffett

With over 15 years of high-tech enterprise sales and operations experience, Andy Duffett has a demonstrated track record of building and running high-growth global organizations while delivering predictable financial results. He currently leads CrowdStrike’s global go-to-market and revenue operations strategy, where he has helped the organization grow from a small startup to one of the world’s largest cybersecurity companies.

“The Advisory Board has done a great job of translating what they are seeing across their industries back into the direction, vision and strategy of the college,” said Duffett. “I want to use my current role and professional experience to build bridges for IST students into the startup world and Silicon Valley.”

Duffett earned his bachelor’s degree in information sciences and technology in 2005 and his MBA from Smeal College of Business in 2009. He and his wife, Danielle, who earned her bachelor’s degree from the College of Education in 2005, recently established the Duffett Family Scholarship to support IST undergraduate students who contribute to the diversity of the college.

Corey Lee

Through his own immersive student experiences and professional opportunities, Corey Lee is hoping to extend the college’s reach, future-proof student career pathways, and improve digital equity. As a student, Lee studied abroad in Argentina and China; conducted undergraduate research; and completed internships with Booz Allen Hamilton, EY, and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency. Now, he brings his experience with disruptive technologies to his career at Microsoft.

“I’m excited to draw on my leadership experience solving complex global challenges to help the college reach and retain next-generation students while preparing them for successful careers in a digital-first economy,” said Lee, a Schreyer Scholar who earned his bachelor’s degree in security and risk analysis in 2012. “I hope my involvement — and the board overall — can be a change agent to positively impact the college and Penn State.”
