Liberty Mutual joins College of IST's Corporate Associates Program

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Liberty Mutual has become the newest organization to join the Corporate Associates Program within the Penn State College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST).

Liberty Mutual is one of 15 businesses active in the program, which provides opportunities for organizations to engage with the IST community by funding college initiatives and student internships.

“We have seen an increase in technical aptitude from students in the IST discipline. We want to support these students and expose them to hands-on experiences within Liberty Mutual’s innovative tech environment,” said Kayla Wheaton, technology campus recruiter at Liberty Mutual. “In joining the Corporate Associates Program, we aim to work with Penn State to help shape the future of the technical workforce and hope to hire these brilliant students into our TechStart full-time and internship programs.”

Founded in 1912, the Fortune 100 company is the fifth largest property and casualty insurer in the United States. Based in Boston, it is home to more than 50,000 employees in 30 countries, operating at more than 900 locations around the world.

Liberty Mutual will join other corporate associates to connect with IST students through recruiting at annual career fairs, participation in professional development activities, and opportunities to bring real-life scenarios from their organizations into the curriculum. Students benefit from associates' extensive technological expertise, mentoring sessions, facility tours and networking events.

“As the college’s newest corporate associate, Liberty Mutual will play a critical role in enhancing IST students’ academic experiences and exposing them to professional opportunities early in their careers,” said Brianne Lippert, assistant director for career solutions and corporate engagement in IST. "And Liberty Mutual’s support of IST programs and initiatives will give the company increased visibility with our students, who can fulfill the challenging and exciting internships and professional roles they have to offer."
