UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State College of Information Sciences and Technology announced that Amy Stever has assumed the role of assistant dean for academic services, effective Jan. 1. She has been serving in the interim role since September.

In more than 12 years at IST, Stever helped to build and refine several of the college’s academic service practices, including through her most recent roles as director of online and outreach programs and director of academic services operations.

“Throughout Amy’s time at IST, she has made a significant impact on the services we provide to our students —  especially through our online programs — and has been an integral member of the administrative leadership team," said Andrew Sears, dean of the College of IST. “Her experience and achievements in higher education that long predate her time at IST uniquely position her to provide thoughtful and strategic leadership to support our academic service units, faculty and students.”

“I am honored to be following in footsteps of past leaders who have significantly shaped IST’s academic services structure and work,” said Stever. “They set standards and measurements for success and achievement, and inspired staff to be proud of their work and advocation. I am excited to continue to inspire our staff and promote professional development opportunities that will grow their skills and build IST as a student-centric and customer-driven college.”

Stever came to IST in 2010 from Penn State Outreach and World Campus, where she served in the positions of client development manager and academic adviser. She came to Penn State in 2003 from the University of Adelaide in Australia, where she served as registrar and academic adviser in the School of Economics. She began her career in admission and recruitment counseling and human resources at several universities and health care facilities in the Northeastern U.S.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in history and master’s degrees in curriculum and instruction and bilingual education from Penn State.
