Penn State Wireless setup is moving to the cloud

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Beginning April 20, wireless.psu.edu will redirect to a new Penn State Wireless (Wi-Fi) setup process hosted by SecureW2, an enterprise cloud security network.

The Penn State Wireless network is available in most buildings at all Penn State campus locations as well as in many University buildings off campus. It only requires a one-time download and configuration to use.

Students, faculty and staff members should connect to the "psu" wireless network using their Penn State user ID and password. Visitors or guests to Penn State campus locations should connect to the "psu-guest" network.

Those setting up their connection to the "psu" network will need to temporarily connect to the "psu-guest" Wi-Fi. If the psu-guest interface doesn't open automatically, open a browser and go to https://psu-guest.psu.edu. Follow the prompts to accept and connect. Once configured, you can connect wherever "psu" is listed as an available network.

While the interface of the SecureW2 cloud may look slightly different, the purpose and functionality remain the same. However, this change will result in moderately improved performance as well as streamlined installation for certain operating systems like Windows and Linux. In addition, moving the wireless setup process to the cloud also helps Penn State ensure the safety and reliability of IT resources.

More information and frequently asked questions regarding Penn State Wireless are available on the Knowledge Base at Penn State Wi-Fi FAQ.
