UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State’s Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) is accepting self-nominations through Sept. 15 for the inaugural Teaching and Learning Technologies Faculty Advisory Committee. The committee will play a pivotal role in guiding TLT on integrating technology into teaching and learning at Penn State.

Advisory committee members will:

  • Engage regularly with fellow faculty leaders who interact with TLT and University Information Technology.
  • Guide teaching and learning decisions related to technology at Penn State.
  • Recommend topical focus areas for existing programs, events and strategic directions.
  • Advocate for teaching, learning, technology and innovation with fellow colleagues and discipline areas.

The committee will meet at least three times per semester.

Faculty who are passionate about embracing and implementing technology in their teaching practices and interested in exploring new pedagogical approaches are encouraged to apply. Representatives from TLT will make the final selections and notify the new members by the end of September. Members of the 2023 committee can opt to serve for one or two years; future committee members will serve for two years.

"We believe that faculty input is invaluable in shaping the future of teaching and learning technologies that foster innovation, collaboration, and quality," said Angie Dick, manager of Learning Design with TLT. “By inviting faculty self-nominations for this advisory board, we are ensuring that those at the forefront of the educational experience will have an opportunity to play an influential role in shaping the future.”

A similar effort representing student interests, the Student Technology Advisory Representatives group, will launch later this fall. It will provide a platform for students to connect with technology professionals, learn about new technology efforts at the University, and provide timely and valuable insight and feedback. More information will be forthcoming.
