Institute for Computational and Data Sciences
MPI (Message Passing Interface) Programming Workshop
11:00 AM / August 12, 2025 - 5:00 PM / August 13, 2025
Join the Penn State Institute for Computational and Data Sciences (ICDS) for an in person, two-day workshop on Message Passing Interface (MPI) programming. The event is designed for students and researchers who want to harness the power of high-performance computing (HPC) in their work.
The MPI Programming Workshop will take place Tuesday, Aug. 12, and Wednesday, Aug. 13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 103 Career Services Building.
The workshop will equip attendees with knowledge of MPI and its role in parallel computing. Attendees can also expect hands-on exercises to learn how structure and optimize their code for speed, scalability and performance and to write programs and use multiple processors across modern HPC systems.
No experience with parallel programming is required to attend the workshop, however, interested applicants should have an understanding of programming fundamentals with the desire to gain new skills and insights that can transform your research.
Attendees must have a U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded Advanced Cyberinfrastructure Coordination Ecosystem: Services and Support (ACCESS) ID to attend the workshop. Interested attendees can sign up for an ACCESS ID prior to the event on the NSF website.
Attendees must have their ACCESS ID and register for this workshop no later than Monday, Aug. 11, at noon.
This workshop is hosted by ICDS as part of the HPC monthly workshop series provided by the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center. The event will be presented using the Wide Area Classroom Training platform.
