Back-to-back: Men's volleyball repeats as conference champions

Nittany Lions earn No. 5 seed to national championship tournament

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's volleyball clinched back-to-back championships in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) after beating George Mason 3-1 in the final round of the conference tournament on April 20 at Rec Hall at University Park campus.

Top-seeded Penn State earned a first-round bye in the EIVA Tournament, and defeated Harvard 3-1 in the tournament semifinals.

The Nittany Lions improved to 23-6 on the season while winning the 34th EIVA Tournament title in program history. John Kerr was named the Tournament MVP and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by teammates Toby EzeonuMichael Schwob, and Michael Valenzi.

Penn State received the No. 5 seed for the NCAA men's volleyball championship and will face the No. 4-seed UC Irvine in the second quarterfinal-round match April 30.
