UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — On a special crossover episode of Invent Penn State’s “Dare to Disrupt” and Schreyer Honors College's “Following the Gong,” Dare to Disrupt host Ryan Newman and Associate Vice President for Research James Delattre talk about the entrepreneurial scene at Penn State.

Delattre, director of the Office of Entrepreneurship & Commercialization, and Newman, managing director at Goldman Sachs, are both Penn State Scholar Alumni. They discuss their experiences as Penn State students, challenges they each faced and overcame, as well as their backgrounds and achievements.

Newman and Delattre also discuss the origin of Invent Penn State and the resources available for students, alumni, and community members alike to get involved with entrepreneurial programming at Penn State.

“96% of Pennsylvanians are within 30 miles of one of our LaunchBoxes. So go there, meet the director, learn more about your local ecosystem. They're natural places for things like internships, mentorship, opportunities. That's the link up point across our network, so I definitely encourage people to find their local LaunchBox, go visit and take a tour,” Delattre said during the episode.

The LaunchBox & Innovation Network is comprised of 21 LaunchBoxes and innovation spaces embedded within Commonwealth Campus communities across the state. Each innovation space provides a wide array of no-cost resources needed by entrepreneurs and innovators.

Newman and Delattre also discuss their favorite moments from the Dare to Disrupt podcast, as this episode commemorates the show passing 50,000 downloads.

“50,000 downloads. What that tells me is that, when the Penn State community gets behind something, look out. There's no stopping us,” said Newman during the episode.

Dare to Disrupt producer and editor Katie DeFiore joins the conversation toward the end of the episode to discuss the origin of the podcast and gives a behind-the-scenes look at how the podcast is made.
