UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — In the latest episode of Invent Penn State’s “Dare to Disrupt” podcast, host Ryan Newman interviews Penn State alumnus and serial entrepreneur Bill Seibel, who has played a role in 14 startups: five as founder and CEO, five as CEO, and another four as an operating executive. Seibel graduated from Penn State with a degree in engineering.

In this episode, Seibel shares his experience turning a failing forecasting software company around into the top restart company of the year, as well as how he built an impactful but financially failed professional services company — and why he sees it as his greatest success.

“One of my key success indicators for any startup is how good you are at plan B, because plan A seldom occurs," said Seibel during the podcast interview. "If you have a team that’s able to take that one step backwards and turn it into two steps forward, then you’re likely to be successful in what you’re trying to accomplish."

At the end of the episode, Noah Wiggins, a 2023 Penn State College of Health and Human Development graduate, joins the conversation. Wiggins graduated from Schreyer Honors College with a degree in biobehavioral health. He is the founder of Preventi, a mobile health intervention designed to increase medication adherence and health literacy for patients, and is a current participant in Invent Penn State’s Summer Founders Program. In the podcast, Seibel talks to Wiggins about breaking into the healthcare tech startup space, as well as how to prioritize multiple entrepreneurial endeavors.
