CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Penn State Lehigh Valley will welcome the University’s 2015-16 laureate, Carol Reardon, the George Winfree Professor of American History, as part of her statewide tour from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, at the Hotel Bethlehem for a special breakfast event.
Reardon’s teaching and research focus on American military history — especially the Civil War and Vietnam eras. She will deliver a keynote on Oct. 30 titled “From Battlefield to Boardroom: Gettysburg’s Lessons for Leaders in the Twenty-first Century” for local business owners, professionals and community members from the Lehigh Valley.
Reardon will draw heavily on military history as it relates to modern-day team building, decision making, risk assessment, logistics, personnel planning and development, ethics and organizational culture.
The Penn State laureate is an honorary position held by a full-time faculty member in the humanities or arts. The laureate is assigned half-time for one academic year to bring an enhanced level of social, cultural, artistic and human perspective and awareness to a broad array of audiences.
