Penn State Lehigh Valley to hold Veterans Day program Nov. 11

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Penn State Lehigh Valley’s Student Veterans of America Club will once again host a Veterans Day program on Thursday, Nov. 11.

The program will take place from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in room 135 and is open to the campus community. There, Student Veterans members will pay homage to the sacrifices made by the campus’ veteran and active-duty military student population, as well as their families and all veterans in general. Lunch will be included.

This year, the event will feature remarks by Rocco Zegalia, an Air Force veteran who will share his insights on making the transition from military to civilian life.

Meanwhile, beginning Monday, Nov. 8, the campus’s Centre Hall will feature a special Wall of Honor recognizing the service of student veterans and active-duty military, as well as family members serving in the Armed Forces.

Stars will be placed on a table that students can use to write out and display the name of the vet they’re honoring, be it themselves or a loved one. Those who would like to include a digital picture with their star can email it to Melissa Baker, coordinator of student services, at mjb85@psu.edu.

“We want to acknowledge and give thanks to all of our veterans and their families,” Baker said.
