Please join faculty from the Penn State Department of Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies in an exploration of death and the afterlife in the ancient world. The event will feature lectures on Hades and Persephone, the Egyptian afterlife and the apocalypse, and activities with curse tablets, mummification and ancient burials. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Meet the authors of the new "Jews of Iran: A Photographic Chronicle" on Wednesday, Oct. 19, in the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center. The event, co-sponsored by the Department of History, the Jewish Studies Program, and Penn State University Press, will feature an exhibit of photos from the book by Hassan Sarbakhshian in the Pasquerilla lobby and a lecture by Iranian Jewish musician Galeet Dardashti in the Eisenhower Chapel.

Sharon Wright Austin, professor of political science at the University of Florida, will lay out the key issues related to recent attacks on Black studies at all levels of the educational system and discuss ways to respond to the assault during a lecture at Penn State's University Park campus. The talk will be held at 5 p.m. Feb. 28 in Foster Auditorium, 102 Paterno Library. The forum is presented by the Penn State Department of African American Studies, with additional support from the Humanities Institute and Department of Political Science.
