UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Last month, the Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures in Penn State's College of the Liberal Arts hosted “German Day” for more than 230 Pennsylvania high school students. This year’s event was centered around the College of the Liberal Arts’ theme “Moments of Change: Creating a Livable Planet” and included competitions centered around the motto “Langfristig Lebenswert!” — loosely translated as “For a Better Planet!”
In addition to participating in activities like a spelling bee, poetry recitation, trivia game, and poster and video competitions, students took campus tours and met current Penn State students majoring in German.
