Couture cause: AFF Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show

HERSHEY, Pa. — The Association of Faculty and Friends’ (AFF) will host its 49th Annual Spring Luncheon and Fashion show, the largest local fundraising effort on behalf of Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. The event, which will feature a “Back to the Eighties” theme, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 11 at The Hotel Hershey.

Dr. Craig Hillemeier, dean of Penn State College of Medicine, CEO of Penn State Health and Penn State’s senior vice president for health affairs, will speak at the event, and Miss Pennsylvania Katie Schreckengast will be modeling some of the fashions.

Community leaders and hospital employees will be among the models for the fashion show. The event also features a live auction and silent auction for items, including a signed Penn State football, tickets to a Penn State football game, a birthday party at the Hershey Fire Department and a timeshare for a condo in Hawaii.

Last year’s luncheon and fashion show raised over $100,000 to benefit patients at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. The funding provides:

  • Seed money for medical research projects
  • Financial assistance for underinsured patients being discharged with prescriptions
  • Creation of a breastfeeding clinic connected with the Department of Pediatrics
  • Therapeutic materials for pediatric patients with medical or behavioral issues
  • Camp scholarships for children with kidney disease to attend the Camp Kydnie summer camp, where Dr. Deborah Kees-Folts, who specializes in pediatric nephrology, is camp director
