Dr. Thomas Pritchard, a longtime member of the neural and behavioral sciences faculty at Penn State College of Medicine, was lost at sea on July 21 while diving the Andrea Doria off Nantucket.
Pritchard was a faculty member for more than 30 years, having retired in June of 2014. He led an active research program in the study of taste for decades, resulting in many publications, book chapters and books. He was a member of the Curriculum Evaluation Committee for five years, a member of the Medical Student Selection Committee for 21 years, and an applicant screener for six years.
Pritchard also was a member of the Library Advisory Committee for 22 years. He served on several key committees for the graduate program in Neuroscience, he co-directed the Neural and Behavioral Sciences course and laboratory for six years, and he co-wrote a related text: "Medical Neuroscience." As such, he impacted the medical and graduate education of hundreds of students.
A memorial mass will be held at noon on Monday, Aug. 10 at St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Route 422 and Lucy Avenue, Hershey. View Pritchard’s obituary here.
