Penn State Health St. Joseph – Muhlenberg is changing to better meet the needs of the Muhlenberg and Temple communities. The practice is moving to a new facility that will continue to offer urgent care and family practice, as well as expanded medical services.
The new facility will be located at 4301 N. 5th Street, the former site of Sunshine Beverage, a business that served the community for over three decades. It is slated to open in spring 2020.
The larger location, an 11,000 square foot facility, will offer expanded hours. The centerpiece of the new facility will be a seven-day-a-week, walk-in, urgent-care clinic with early morning, evening and weekend hours. The facility will also offer primary care services, and additional services such as lab testing, x-ray, physical therapy, EKG testing and Work Care, St. Joseph’s health program for employers.
“One of Penn State Health’s promises to the communities we serve is to make sure they are able to access our primary care services close to where they live and work,” said Jeanette Gibbs, senior vice president of ambulatory services for Penn State Health. “Moving the Muhlenberg facility to this prominent, easily accessible location is one way we are delivering on that promise.”
“The new location is highly visible and will offer quick and easy access to a menu of health care services,” said Mary Hahn, vice president of ambulatory services and business development at Penn State Health St. Joseph. “This new location gives us the ability to make care more accessible to this community and offers convenient hours for busy family and life schedules. We also look forward to the continued use of one of the community’s most iconic buildings.”
Penn State Health St. Joesph – Muhlenberg is the first of several projects slated for the area over the next 18 months by property owner Dan Gring. Facility renovations will be managed by Olsen Design of Bern Township.
The current location in Muhlenberg will remain open while the new facility is under construction.
