The Department of Humanities September 2016 First Friday Presentation, “Examine the Painting Examine the Patient” will be presented by Dr. Joel Shallit, adjunct assistant at UCI School of Medicine, at noon on Sept. 9 in Room C2860 at Penn State College of Medicine.
The presentation brings back the art of medicine by centering on visual thinking strategies. Participants will be shown famous paintings and asked to discuss them. They’ll be reminded that medicine is both an art and a science and that a compassionate, empathetic heart is needed as well as an inquisitive mind in order to best treat the whole patient.
