Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center researchers are studying the use of MRI imaging techniques to aid in the diagnosis of sports-related concussions. This research also seeks to correlate imaging findings with long-term impairment seen on clinical examinations. Student-athletes who have a concussion in the past seven days are eligible to participate in this study.
To volunteer, participants need to be age 13-18, be a student-athlete, have an injury occur in game play or practice, and be able to attend MRI appointments within seven days of injury and again 30 days following the injury.
Participation requires undergoing cognitive assessments and MRI scans.
A gift card will be received for time and travel at both visits.
Study director is Qing X. Yang.
