A group of first-year Penn State College of Medicine students led the eighth annual Kiss Hershey Back Derry Township cleanup day on Saturday, May 2.
Kiss Hershey Back is a township-wide cleanup effort to make the sweetest place on earth also the cleanest place on earth. During the event, more than 300 community members cleaned up streets and other public areas in an effort to beautify the greater Hershey area. In addition to picking up trash, volunteers planted trees and flowers among 10 different sites around Hershey.
Kiss Hershey Back 2015 started off with a free breakfast for all participants and included face painting and raffle prizes donated by local businesses.
College of Medicine students organize the event each year to give back to the community that is their home during medical or graduate school. The event is supported by the Derry Township Board of Supervisors and Department of Public Works along with local school districts, community organizations and businesses.
