York-based biotech entrepreneur to speak at next Entrepreneur’s Roundtable

The Penn State Hershey Office of Technology Development will kick off the first Entrepreneur’s Roundtable event of 2014 from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25. Dr. G. Thomas Caltigirone, founder and president of York-based Aptagen, will serve as the featured entrepreneur.

The Entrepreneur’s Roundtable is a chance for students to build their network and explore a career with industry. At this session, Caltigirone addresses how he developed a company around the rising field of synthetic antibodies – or aptamers – in diagnostics and drug discovery.  Caltigirone founded Apatagen LLC which has grown from one employee to a developed company creating aptamers for academia and industry. Caltigirone will share his advice for students on exploring careers and using their education in an industry setting.

As a seasoned entrepreneur, Caltigirone has over two decades of research and business experience. After receiving his doctorate in neuroscience from Drexel University, he completed his thesis on “Proton-Sensitive Ribozyme Switches with Molecular Memory” at Yale University.

Whether students are aspiring entrepreneurs following in Caltigirone’s footsteps, exploring a career with industry or a startup company or simply looking to build their network, they are welcome to attend.

A light lunch will be provided. Registration is required and is available at http://www.eventbrite.com/e/entrepreneurs-roundtable-february-25-2014-tickets-10186797987.
