UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Interdisciplinary collaboration and communication, and the need for enhanced team-based care of patients and improved population health outcomes, were the motivation behind five Penn State Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing faculty members teaming up to create the "IPE: A Recipe for Success" interprofessional educational opportunity across multiple Penn State academic disciplines.
The professional development opportunity is being held virtually on Friday, March 4, from 2 to 5 p.m., and hosted and facilitated by the CON IPE Champion Group: assistant teaching professors Leslie Womeldorf, Ashley Clark, Kim Streiff and Valerie Vanderhoff, and instructor Mary Anne Ventura.
The event, designed for Penn State faculty that have a connection with healthcare and the desire for improved overall patient experience, aims to help prepare future health professionals using four core competencies — values and ethics, roles and responsibilities, communication, and teamwork.
While the event is designed for healthcare-related faculty, such as nursing, kinesiology, physical therapy or psychology, it is completely open and free to the public.
Registration is required and can be accessed here. Additionally, upon completing the contact hours application, 3 contact hours will be given.
