'Working: The Musical' in rehearsal for April 2 opening

The cast and crew of "Working: The Musical" are currently in rehearsal at Penn State New Kensington. The three shows performed by the Penn State Players are set for 8 p.m. April 2-4 in the campus' Forum Theatre.

First-year director Bill Mitasis is directing his second campus production. Based on Studs Terkel’s book, "Working," the play is a series of interviews with American workers who talk about their jobs as well as their hopes and aspirations.

"The students are working hard with lines and music," said Mitas, adjunct instructor in theatre at the campus. "They will be ready for show time."

The 12-member student cast includes Thomas O’Sullivan, Jimmy Baker, Rae Ann Niebel, Andrew Holodnik, Juliann Motosicky, Ashley Petrausky, George Mejia, Steve Harden, Zachary Bacon, Ross Sheffler, Justin Freyermuth, and Danielle Dortenzo.

Assisting Mitas with the production are George Pecoraro, music director/ vocal coach, Charley Thomas, musician, and Monica Davis, stage manage. The production crew includes Angie Mitas, costumes; John Sheffler, light design; Joseph Kotvas, light technician; and Kasey Kolwalski, sound design. The set was designed by Mitas and constructed by R.J. Sawyer, John Sheffler, Holodnik, and Baker.
