As part of our regular "We Are!" feature, we recognize four Penn Staters who have gone above and beyond what's asked of them in their work at the University. Do you know someone who deserves a shout-out? If you do, consider taking a minute to nominate that person by filling out a short online form.
This week, we'd like say thank you on behalf of the entire University community to:
Kristin Vitacco of Penn State Hazleton, whose nominator wrote: "Kristin has done an amazing job of stepping beyond her job responsibilities to get involved in committee work that benefits her department, division and campus while maintaining above-average performance in her daily Residence Life work. As her supervisor, I'm incredibly proud of her!"
Janet Campolongo of the Social Science Research Institute, whose nominator wrote: "Janet maintains our databases for SSRI, and she is so pleasant to work with. She is never quick to make a change too quickly, without first thinking through scenarios — saving time in the long run. Her detail-oriented nature is a valuable asset to our institute. Thank you for all that you do, Janet!"
Doug Hendershot of Penn State Purchasing, whose nominator wrote: "Doug is always patient and extremely helpful when I have purchasing questions, even if they are not his commodity code. He always responds in a timely manner and it helps to make my job a little easier."
Meghan Flannery-Hayes of the Applied Research Laboratory, whose nominator wrote: "Meghan is such a bright light at PSU. She is an amazing role model for women in engineering, does so much to connect people and selflessly champion others, and gives back to the State College community and 35,000 members of Society of Women Engineers. She is a powerhouse of intelligence and warmth."
Mackenzie Kirsch of Undergraduate Admissions, whose nominator wrote: "Mackenzie is Undergraduate Admissions' New York regional recruiter and works out of state to share all of the opportunities Penn State provides to students. She's increased our recruitment efforts and application numbers, all with the most positive attitude. She's a great ambassador for Penn State!"
Kim Woodward of the College of Nursing, whose nominator wrote: "During the implementation of the new CON Alumni Society, Kim graciously guided the group through the charter process. She is kind, honest and available, always giving 100 percent. Kim is always smiling and ready to help, and she is an asset to the college and university."
Thank you Kristin, Janet, Doug, Meghan, Mackenzie and Kim — and to everyone who helps make Penn State such an incredible community. We Are!
