UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — A two-block road closure of Park Avenue from Atherton Street to Allen Street in State College is scheduled beginning at 7 a.m. and ending at around noon Monday, Dec. 20.
The Penn State Office of Physical Plant has obtained permission from PennDOT and State College Borough for the temporary closure of this section of roadway in order to safely remove a white oak tree located on Penn State property. The removal is necessary due to significant disease damage of the tree that, if left unattended, could deteriorate further and pose a safety hazard to pedestrians and motorists. The timing for removal was chosen to limit the potential impact to the community and campus operations. To remove the tree safely and efficiently, a crane will be placed in the roadway and traffic will be detoured around the area.
