UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence invites proposals for the Advancing Equity and Inclusion Grant program. Now in its third year, the program supports projects that have the potential to influence teaching and learning at the scale of the program, department, school, division, college or campus. Projects should address inequities or advance inclusion in teaching and learning.

To apply to this grant program, applicants must meet with a Schreyer Institute consultant by April 1 to discuss the initial idea. After the consultation, a brief paragraph of less than 300 words describing the project is due by April 15. Finally, if a project is selected, a full proposal will be due by May 15.

Successful proposals will receive funding for the 2024-25 fiscal year. The Schreyer Institute aims to fund as many proposals as possible and requests above $6,000 may be considered, but larger grants are rare.

More information, including award criteria, timelines and fundable items can be found here.

Grants available for peer review of teaching

The Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence offers grants to support academic units to update their peer review guidelines as part of the new Faculty Assessment of Teaching Framework. These grants are available this spring and intended to support conversations about possible changes to unit peer review of teaching guidelines, which include integration of the elements of effective teaching

Requests for support may come from a committee, committee chair or academic unit head at any Penn State location. Collaborators may include faculty, students and administrators. Funding requests can include materials, lunches or resources for peer review of teaching. Schreyer Institute faculty consultants are available to facilitate discussions as a neutral party or provide resources.

Please submit requests by email to site@psu.edu. Include a brief description (approximately 300 words) about what the unit plans to do and how it will advance revision of unit peer review guidelines. Applicants should contact their preferred vendor for actual costs before submitting their request.
