Financial literacy webinars and trivia offered through June

Webinars and events through the Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center are offered at no cost to the Penn State community

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center will continue offering webinars and virtual trivia through the month of June.

The next trivia event is slated for 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, June 11. Participants can join with this Zoom link and are encouraged to stick around after trivia for a “Finlit Five,” where participants and talk privately with Center staff about any financial concerns or questions.

More virtual trivia is scheduled for June 25, July 9 and July 23.

The next webinar in the center’s series on financial literacy will be from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16. The webinar is accessible from this Zoom link, and will focus on financial clutter.

The term “financial clutter” can mean many things, from messy records in attics and garages, to old credit cards gathering up in wallets and purses, or outdated insurance policies. The June 16 webinar will teach attendees ways to take control of their clutter, tune up their financial record keeping and reduce long-term financial stress. The webinar will cover for how long documents should be kept, how to organize permanent and temporary records, a guide to cleaning up financial clutter and which financial records should be reviewed and at what intervals.

Additionally, self-study modules are available here from “MoneyCounts: A Penn State Financial Literacy Series.”

The next webinar will be on June 30 and will focus on environmental stewardship.

The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center offers services to the entire Penn State community and is part of Penn State Undergraduate Education, the academic administrative unit that provides leadership and coordination for University-wide programs and initiatives in support of undergraduate teaching and learning at Penn State.
