UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Help fellow undergraduate students transition to the University Park campus by applying to be a LEAP mentor for summer 2022. Mentors receive an hourly wage and room and board during Summer Session II.

Mentors are an integral part of the Learning Edge Academic Program (LEAP). Held during Summer Session II from June 27–Aug. 12, LEAP helps first-year students transition to college in small, supportive environments. Current undergraduate students should consider becoming mentors if they want to gain leadership experience and professional skills and become part of a network of support for their peers.

Mentors plan social and academic programming for their pride of 24 students. This programming includes activities to help the students get to know each other and learn about campus resources and the State College community. Mentors also plan study sessions and other academic activities for their LEAP pride.

To apply, find the job posting “Part-Time LEAP Mentor” at hr.psu.edu/careers. There will be two information sessions about becoming a mentor at 7 p.m. Jan. 26 and 6 p.m. Feb. 7. Register here to attend an information session.

Application review will start immediately and continue until positions are filled. Apply by Feb. 11 to be considered for group interviews on Feb. 25 and 26.

The Office for Summer Session is a part of Penn State Undergraduate Education.
