Penn State Learning offers summer hours for academic support and tutoring

Services offered at no additional cost to University Park undergraduates

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Learning, the multi-subject learning and writing center at the University Park campus, will offer math and writing tutoring during Summer Sessions 1 and 2 from May 22 to June 22 and July 5 to Aug. 10.  

Penn State Learning will be closed May 29, June 19 and July 4 along with the rest of the University in observance of summer holidays. The Writing Center @ Penn State Learning also will be closed July 3. 

The Math Center @ Penn State Learning 

Online math tutoring will be available Monday and Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. starting May 31. Undergraduate students can schedule appointments with tutors for Math 004 through Math 141, except for Math 033 and 035, through Starfish

In-person tutoring for math courses will begin Monday, June 12, at 220 Boucke Building. Tutoring will be available Monday through Thursday from noon to 5 p.m. 

Online Guided Study Groups are also available for students taking Math 110, 140 and 141. Students are encouraged to check Canvas for times and links.   

The Writing Center @ Penn State Learning 

Online writing tutoring is available Monday through Thursday from 2-5 p.m. starting May 22. Appointments can be made via Starfish. Asynchronous writing tutoring allows students to submit a project for review and receive virtual feedback. Up to six pages of writing can be submitted using the Asynchronous Tutoring Submission Form

Drop-in writing tutoring is available from 2-5 p.m. in 220 Boucke Building. Students can also make in-person appointments via Starfish.  

Undergraduate students not enrolled in summer courses can still take advantage of writing tutoring for work outside of the classroom. Contact Tabitha Fisher, writing center coordinator at Penn State Learning, at tdf39@psu.edu

Student writers attending an in-person or online scheduled session should be prepared to discuss their assignments, questions and concerns, along with their personal strengths and goals for the work.
