UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State faculty and staff, as well as students and alumni, who may qualify for federal loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) can attend a noon webinar on Aug. 9 to learn more.
The 45-minute webinar from the Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center is intended to provide a broad overview of PSLF, including what the program entails and how to apply. Sessions will be conducted over Zoom and recorded.
This will be the center’s second and final webinar on the topic. Session links can be found at financialliteracy.psu.edu.
PSLF is a program of the federal government that expands the number of people who qualify for loan forgiveness. Since Penn State is a qualified employer under the program, many faculty and staff could be eligible for forgiveness, even if they have applied for PSLF and been denied in the past.
Individuals seeking forgiveness must complete their applications before the program’s deadline on Oct. 31.
The center also offers no-cost, one-on-one appointments to Penn State community members who may qualify for loan forgiveness and require additional guidance. Faculty, staff and alumni can schedule appointments by visiting the center's website and selecting Option 3: “Schedule a PSLF Consultation.” These one-on-one appointments will be conducted over Zoom. Current students can schedule an appointment through Starfish.
The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center offers services to the entire Penn State community and is part of Penn State Undergraduate Education.
