UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center will hold three public webinars in October, with “Building a Better Budget” at noon Oct. 3, “Debt Management” at noon Oct. 17 and “All About Credit” at noon Oct. 31.

Creating and following a budget is the foundation of financial wellness. A good working budget not only boosts financial stability but can also help prevent overspending and unwanted financial surprises. The “Building a Better Budget” webinar will empower participants to build and use their own budget. Participants will be guided through the process of creating a budget and introduced to a variety of available budgeting tools and resources.

The “Debt Management” webinar aims to help attendees to take charge of their debt situation. For successful debt management, the first step is recognizing the symptoms of being in debt and what commitments one can make to reach a financially secure future. This webinar will cover budgeting and debt repayment strategies and other options to get rid of debt and navigating student loan debt specifically.

The “All About Credit” webinar will provide insights into all things credit: the different types of credit, how to obtain credit, how credit scores are calculated and tips and tricks to maintain a healthy credit score. “Buy now, pay later” apps will also be covered, along with the relationship between credit score and credit report.

A list of webinars open to the public, including the series’ Zoom link, can be found at the program's website.

Self-study modules also are available here from “MoneyCounts: A Penn State Financial Literacy Series.”
