UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Rachel Weinert joined Penn State's Undergraduate Admissions Office in March as the director of communications and marketing. In this role, Weinert will support the recruitment and enrollment of undergraduate students across the University.

Weinert was most recently a senior marketing manager for admissions with Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), where she managed the integrated marketing campaigns of the university’s admission office. She previously served as associate director of admission, marketing and communications at CMU. She also has worked at CMU's Tepper School of Business, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Emory University, and the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Weinert said she is looking forward to strengthening Undergraduate Admissions’ partnerships across Penn State and promoting access to higher education.

“I'm excited for this new role because Penn State offers students the complete package — high-quality academics, opportunities to gain real-world experience, robust student life, and so much more,” Weinert said. “Showcasing all of that to our prospective student audience is a special opportunity."

As marketing and communications director, Weinert and her team will execute an integrated communications plan that is student-centered, data-informed, and in concert with college, campus and administrative partners. Penn State receives more than 100,000 undergraduate applications each year, according to the latest available data. As of fall 2021, there were 73,476 undergraduate students enrolled at the University.

“We are fortunate to have Rachel Weinert join Penn State and the Undergraduate Admissions Office," said Robert Springall, executive director of Undergraduate Admissions and assistant vice president for Undergraduate Education. "Rachel brings a variety of experiences in both undergraduate and graduate admissions to us. She will build on the great work our marketing and communications team does now and will also sharpen our focus on how to best connect with students, their families, and those who help them through college searches.”

Weinert earned a bachelor of arts in English from Winthrop University and master of arts in liberal studies from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

The Undergraduate Admissions Office is part of Penn State Undergraduate Education.
