PITTSBURGH — The Penn State Center Pittsburgh, Readiness Institute at Penn State and Penn State Career Services are collaborating to host Pittsburgh Connect, a networking summit for students to connect with employers in the Pittsburgh area. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 20 at the Energy Innovation Center in Pittsburgh.
“This is not a typical career fair where we’re limited to having employers talk about internships and jobs,” said Justin Aglio, associate vice president for Penn State Outreach. “This is an opportunity for students to connect with employers to learn about different career paths, the workforce in general, and the power of networking. It’s a great way to introduce students to the Pittsburgh market and get them excited for the future of this vibrant city.”
During the event, students will be able to have conversations about job shadowing and mentorship opportunities with Penn State alumni and employers from the following businesses:
- Highmark Health and Allegheny Health Network
- Pittsburgh Pirates
- First National Bank
- PJ Dick
- Sheetz Inc.
- DICK's Sporting Goods
- Brunner
- EDA Clinical
- Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
- Northwestern Mutual
Student tips for success:
- Dress professionally.
- Bring a copy of your resume or portfolio.
- Update your LinkedIn page.
- Research employers ahead of the event.
