Chef Charles Niedermyer presents workshop at Salon du Chocolat NYC

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Chef Charles R. Niedermyer, instructor of baking and pastry arts/culinary arts at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was recently a workshop presenter during Salon du Chocolat NYC, held in New York City’s Javits Center.

Established in 1994 in Paris, Salon du Chocolat is the largest international trade show dedicated to the chocolate and cocoa industry. With exhibitors from 16 countries, it attracts more than 6,000 attendees.

Niedermyer, who was named a Top 10 Pastry Chef in America in 2017, presented “Three Chocolate Confections for Beginners” in the event’s Culinary Theater.

A faculty member at Penn College since 2005, Niedermyer is a recipient of the college’s Distinguished Teaching Award. He’s also an alumnus, with degrees in baking and pastry arts and applied management.

In addition to his Top 10 recognition in Dessert Professional Magazine, Niedermyer was named a 2018 Bake Magazine “Twenty-five” issue top educator and was a finalist for the U.S. team that competed at the Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie.

He’s written for and been featured in several industry magazines and is a frequent presenter for events by the Bread Bakers Guild of America, Retail Confectioners International and the Retail Confectioners Association of Philadelphia. His industry experience includes bakeries, restaurants, hotels and clubs, as well as a lead role at the Kentucky Derby, where Penn College baking and culinary students have served weeklong internships for more than 30 years.
