WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Five Pennsylvania College of Technology students received financial assistance through the Allan Myers Corporate Scholars Program, just one of the ways the mid-Atlantic’s largest heavy civil contracting firm encourages the institution’s tomorrow makers.

Awarded scholarships were Brian J. Adams, of Holland, construction management; Mason E. Blethen, of Colora, Maryland, construction management; Carl J. Fowler, of Honey Grove, civil engineering technology; Blaise C. Plourde, of Paoli, heavy construction equipment technology: operator emphasis; and Michael A. Sydor III, of Reading, engineering design technology.

“Being selected for the Allan Myers Scholarship is an honor,” said Fowler, who is set to graduate with a bachelor’s degree on May 13. “It shows how Allan Myers is taking steps by investing in the future — and in young professionals going into the construction industry.”

Allan Myers is among the dedicated partners in the Corporate Tomorrow Makers program, with a decades-long history of inspiring, mentoring, hiring and promoting Penn College students and graduates.

“Allan Myers continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to Penn College and our students,” said Elizabeth A. Biddle, senior corporate relations director. “Penn College students and graduates bring valuable technical skills that help them grow into leaders within the Allan Myers workforce. We thank Allan Myers for establishing this Corporate Scholars Program as another way to invest in and recruit talented tomorrow makers.”

A designated Allan Myers Field Site for heavy equipment and diesel instruction at the college’s training site in Brady Township is just one reflection of the company’s historic and ongoing support, which includes a substantial 2022 investment to boost the number of annual scholarships.

“Allan Myers is pleased to partner with Penn College through this unique Scholars Program that engages high-performing students who demonstrate a commitment to the college and our industry,” said Bob Herbein, executive vice president, corporate services. “Our values of supporting education, students, and providing great careers are easily demonstrated in the partnership with Penn College. We look forward to continuing the Scholars Program and making a difference for Penn College students and our future builders.”

To be selected for an Allan Myers Corporate Scholarship, students must be an employee (or family member of an employee) of Allan Myers enrolled full time in one of the following two-year programs: heavy construction equipment technology: operator emphasis, heavy construction equipment technology: technician emphasis, surveying technology, civil engineering technology or automotive restoration technology. Alternatively, an applicant may be enrolled in the four-year construction management or civil engineering technology majors.

Allan Myers, a member of the Golden Society (between $500,000 to $999,999 in gifts), has been a partner of — and donor to — Penn College since 1993. The company has full-service operations in Pennsylvania; Virginia; Maryland; Delaware; and Washington, D.C.
