Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology is offering Mastering Photoshop: Level I beginning Nov. 21.Participants will learn how to select, move, duplicate and resize images; apply layer effects and filters to create special effects; use painting tools and blending modes to create shading effects; and adjust contrast and color balance.Since its first release more than 23 years ago, Adobe Photoshop has become the industry standard for photo editing. Features have been continually added, transforming the program into something so versatile it can handle graphic needs from page layout to video editing. Along with all of those features comes a steep learning curve, and trying to teach yourself can be a frustrating and time-consuming experience.Instructor Wayne Palmer has been working with Photoshop for nearly 20 years. During that time, he progressed from being a complete novice to a respected co-author and technical editor of numerous books on the subject as well as a beta tester of the product.“I have concluded that I will always be a student of it, as I will frequently stumble onto some new nuance,” he said.Palmer has been teaching Photoshop through WDCE for 11 years. He brings his unique style of teaching nondestructive editing techniques from the perspective of a photographer.“I welcome you to join my class as we dive deep into the program's capabilities and see why it is second to none when it comes to photo editing,” he said. The class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. on four Thursdays – Nov. 21 and Dec. 5, 12 and 19 – at the Center for Business & Workforce Development on the college’s main campus in Williamsport. The cost is $260. The Level II course will be offered in March. For more information or to register, visit www.pct.edu/wdce, email wdce@pct.edu or call 570-327-4775.For information on credit offerings at Penn College, visit www.pct.edu/schools.
