Jolene T. and Jason A. Furl, area natives and graduates of Pennsylvania College of Technology, revisited their alma mater Feb. 16-17 as the reigning “Alumni Sweethearts.”

For the second year in a row, Penn College’s Office of Alumni Relations invited alumni couples to share their love stories as part of its "Sweethearts’ Contest." The Furls’ essay was selected as the winning story and is available for viewing, complete with photos, on the alumni relations website, www.pct.edu/alumni.

The couple, married for eight years and now residing in Gambrills, Md., were treated to dinner at the college’s fine dining restaurant, Le Jeune Chef, and an overnight stay in The Victorian House, also on campus.

Jolene Furl is the daughter of David Nunn, of New Columbia, and the late Carol Nunn. Jason Furl is the son of Carolyn Toner, of Shamokin Dam, and Dennis Furl, of Mill Hall; and the stepson of Craig Toner, of Lock Haven.

The couple met at Penn College in 2000. Jolene Furl earned a bachelor of science degree in applied human services in 2003 and is a Pampered Chef consultant. Jason Furl earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering technology in 2005. He is a project manager with Structural, formerly Structural Preservation Systems, based in Maryland. They are the parents of four children.

As the college continues its “Countdown to the Centennial,” the Alumni Relations Office encourages all alumni to share their stories and memories on the college’s centennial website, www.pct.edu/centennial.

In 2014, the institution will mark the 100th anniversary of adult-education classes on the site of the college’s main campus in Williamsport.
