WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Commission on Dental Accreditation recently approved continued accreditation for Pennsylvania College of Technology’s dental hygiene program through 2025.
The Commission on Dental Accreditation is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. It serves the public and the profession by developing and implementing accreditation standards that promote and monitor the continuous quality and improvement of dental education programs.
The official status granted by the commission following a site visit to Penn College is “Approval (without reporting requirements).” The status indicates that the college’s program meets or exceeds all of the commission’s accreditation standards.
Graduation from an accredited program is an eligibility requirement for licensure as a dental hygienist.
Penn College offers an associate degree and a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene. The final two years of bachelor’s degree coursework may be taken on campus or online. Hands-on education occurs under the guidance of credentialed faculty in the college’s technology-driven Dental Hygiene Clinic, which provides low-cost services to the public.
