WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Pennsylvania College of Technology's paramedic majors have been reaccredited for the next five years by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.

The continuing accreditation, awarded in March by CAAHEP, follows the recommendation of its Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions, which conducted a peer review of the program in the fall.

The peer review included a site visit to the college to ensure the program’s compliance with national accreditation standards. The standards are developed by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Professions and endorsed by 12 medical/paramedic-related organizations.

The program already was accredited, but that status has been extended another five years. The program’s next extensive evaluation will occur in 2028.

CAAHEP reviews and accredits educational programs in 23 health science occupations across the United States and Canada.

Penn College offers an associate degree in paramedic science and a certificate in paramedic practice with an option for a bachelor’s in prehospital medicine or applied health studies.
