Penn College Summer Commencement to be held Aug. 10

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – A total of 275 students have petitioned to graduate following Pennsylvania College of Technology’s summer sessions. A commencement ceremony is set for Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Community Arts Center.

The student speaker for the 11 a.m. event will be Dylan Gary Otis, of Wyalusing, who will be presented with Associate of Applied Science degrees in heavy construction equipment technology: technician and heavy construction equipment technology: operator.

A dean’s list student, Otis will receive the President’s Award for leadership and service to the college. In May, he received a Penn College Award, also recognizing leadership and outstanding contributions to the college. Otis was captain of the Wildcat wrestling team and received a Penn College Male Athlete of the Year award. He was a two-time NCAA Division III Academic All-American.

Also during the commencement ceremony, the college will present a Mentorship Award to Andrea Reed, a 2007 nursing graduate, who serves as director of nursing at UPMC Susquehanna Muncy.

Degrees will be conferred upon graduates by President Davie Jane Gilmour, assisted by Sen. Gene Yaw, chairman of the Penn College Board of Directors.
