WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Le Jeune Chef Restaurant is among Wine Spectator magazine’s 2017 “Award of Excellence” winners.
Wine Spectator reaches more than 3 million readers with each issue and is the largest paid wine-focused/wine-lifestyle magazine.
Its annual Restaurant Awards, which are published in the August issue, acknowledge the best wine lists in the world. Winning restaurants offer interesting wine selections that are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers.
Wine Spectator grants its Restaurant Awards at three levels. The Award of Excellence, received by Le Jeune Chef, signifies sufficient choice to satisfy discerning wine lovers.
Le Jeune Chef’s wine list offers 410 selections, encompassing major varieties from the world’s key wine-producing regions. It has been recognized in the Wine Spectator Restaurant Guide each year since 1995.
The restaurant’s extensive wine list allows Penn College’s hospitality management and culinary arts students to gain hands-on experience in wine service and food-and-wine pairings, while the educational atmosphere allows patrons to learn more about wines, as well.
Fewer than 3,600 restaurants were recognized in Wine Spectator’s 2017 Restaurant Guide, 78 of them in Pennsylvania. In addition to Le Jeune Chef, the list includes Williamsport’s DiSalvo’s restaurant and The Dining Room at the Nittany Lion Inn on Penn State's University Park campus.
