UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State Climate Consortium has announced its 2025 call for level one workshop proposals for its Climate Solutions Accelerator. The goal of these collaborative workshops is to establish and/or advance research teams aligned with one or more of the Climate Consortium themes, with the potential to progress to level two Accelerator team projects. Ultimately, the program looks to catalyze research teams and their projects to create impactful climate solutions for communities in Pennsylvania and globally. In 2024, the Climate Consortium awarded 11 workshops.
All Penn State faculty members (tenured, tenure-track, and non-tenure-track) who hold an appointment at any Penn State campus are eligible to submit a proposal. The full RFP is on InfoReady, and proposals must be submitted through InfoReady. The deadline for workshop proposals is Nov. 18, 2024.
The consortium is particularly interested in translational proposals that have or will deepen connections to groups outside the University, such as industry, community organizations, tribes and local government partners. Additionally, proposals that benefit the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are especially encouraged.
“Accelerating and expanding solutions to the climate crisis requires bold research innovation and rapid and effective societal translation,” said Erica Smithwick, director of the Penn State Climate Consortium. “Building on Penn State’s land-grant mission to support local and global issues facing people and our planet, the Penn State Climate Consortium looks to advance teams that will promote interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral partnerships to advance equitable and sustainable climate solutions, at scale, through the Climate Solutions Accelerator.”
There is an opportunity to align workshop activities with the 2025 Climate Solutions Symposium, which will occur on May 19–20, 2025.
