Penn State Sustainability

Campus and Community Sustainability Expo

5:00 PM - 7:00 PM / December 12, 2024

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — State College Borough will host the Sustainable Communities Collaborative (SCC) — along with the SCC's participating students, faculty, and community partners — for the fall 2024 Campus and Community Sustainability Expo. To be held on Thursday, Dec. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Municipal Building on 243 S Allen Street, State College, the expo is free and open to the public.

The expo is the semester-end celebration of student work in partnership with Pennsylvania communities on partner-identified projects. Students will showcase their research, findings and designs in a poster-style exhibition. This year, nearly 20 community partners collaborated with Penn State classes representing seven colleges and two Commonwealth Campuses.

The Sustainable Communities Collaborative (SCC), the curricular-engaged scholarship program of Penn State Sustainability, facilitates partnerships between Penn State classes and local governments, non-profit organizations, or businesses. Student projects address real-world issues and provide, for example, baseline data, research or creative ideas to help partners make more informed decisions and take next steps towards more sustainable solutions. The expo also serves as a showcase for ideas and opportunities to engage with Penn State.

An RSVP is not necessary. For more information, contact Ilona Ballreich at ixb20@psu.edu.
