UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — At noon on Thursday, Feb. 24, Assistant Professor of Biology Nita Bharti will appear as the second guest of The Symbiotic Podcast’s all-livestreamed third season. Bharti’s interview will feature a live question-and-answer session with the audience via chat, along with the premiere of a new short video focused on her pioneering work — the latest episode of the Huck Institutes’ new series, "Life from All Angles."

Bharti’s research illuminates the complex relationships between humans, pathogens, and the environment. She’s become a specialist on studying how population movements — both human and animal — affect public health and has pioneered using previously unexplored digital data to improve understanding of disease dynamics and better inform policymakers.

The theme of The Symbiotic Podcast’s third season is “risk-takers and game-changers,” and the conversations feature Penn State scientists who strive to achieve big things, approach big problems in creative ways, and question established scientific assumptions. The first episode of the season welcomed PlantVillage founder and Huck Chair in Global Food Security David Hughes.

Each episode is livestreamed on the Huck Institutes website, and past episodes are archived on the Symbiotic Podcast website. The first season of the podcast, “Transdisciplinary by Design,” featured research teams with collaborators from diverse fields. Season two, “COVID-19 Research Briefs,” presented conversations with teams of scientists tackling different aspects of the global coronavirus pandemic.
