UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – On April 14, S. Shyam Sundar, distinguished professor of communications and founding director of the Media Effects Research Laboratory, and graduate student Eun Hwa Jung, will co-present a talk titled “Assisted Aging: How Smart Technology Will Change How We Grow Old.”
This will be the fourth of six events in the spring Research Unplugged lineup and will take place at 12:30 p.m. in Schlow Centre Region Library in downtown State College.
The number of senior citizens is expected to triple worldwide by the year 2050. Sundar and Jung will discuss the ways in which smart devices and objects and personal robotics will change home environments and transform the aging experience.
Research Unplugged is in its 12th year of bringing together a broad range of Penn State researchers and the State College community for informal conversation.
All Research Unplugged events are held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and are free and open to the public, with complimentary light refreshments.
