UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Are you a faculty or staff member who wants to get the most out of Penn State’s new learning management system, Canvas? Then here’s the perfect chance: Attend the second annual Canvas Day, to be held Friday, March 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center in University Park.
The event will feature a visit by noted “Canvas Coach” Ryan Seilhamer from the University of Central Florida, who will share his considerable expertise during a morning and afternoon session covering the most common app features and how to design, deliver, and manage mobile-friendly Canvas courses.
The day will be split up into morning and afternoon sessions featuring hands-on Canvas activities and training in a relaxed, casual atmosphere. Registration is no charge to attendees, and to meet demands of busy schedules, attendees can register for morning, afternoon or the entire day.
Along with Seilhamer’s mobile Canvas session, faculty will be especially interested in the Faculty Focus Room, where they can hear their peers share innovative uses and success stories of courses in Canvas. The Faculty Focus Room will be set up in a casual come and go setting with informal discussions.
Additionally, there will be four types of sessions for Canvas users from beginner to expert, including:
- Expo - Vendor-style room with informal discussion on specific topics
- Hands-on - Facilitator-led training
- Demo - Presentations on features of Canvas
- Consultations - One-on-one support with a Canvas expert.
Registration for these consultations is required.
Over lunch, which is provided for free to attendees, there will be a talk on the Canvas Roadmap at Penn State. Along with the Canvas-focused activities, attendees can enjoy games and light refreshments throughout the day.
No courses will be delivered in ANGEL after summer 2017 semester, making Canvas Day an important event. For more information on Canvas Day, please email psucanvasteam@psu.edu.
