UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — During the week of Jan. 13-17, the student Clay Club will transform the Borland Project Space into a sea of ceramic objects with its Clay Café project. Varying in size, scale, media and functionality, the objects will be available for visitors to explore and handle.
During this project, Borland Project Space is transformed into a creative environment in which visitors can engage with the makers, make connections through the objects on view, and exchange ideas. Associated public programming allows visitors to engage more deeply with the objects at hand and consider the mindfulness inherent in the act of making something with one's own hands.
The schedule of events is as follows:
Wednesday, Jan. 15, 3 p.m.
Join us for a discussion with Kris Grey.
Thursday, Jan. 16, 3 p.m.
Join us for a wheel-throwing demonstration by Max Henderson.
Friday, Jan. 17, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Join us for a ceramic cups sale.
The Borland Project Space, located in 125 Borland Building on Penn State's University Park campus, seeks to showcase the vivacious research culture of Penn State's College of Arts and Architecture. With this notion we move beyond traditional exhibitions, performances and scholarly programming to expose the processes and procedures of “arts research,” which viewers seldom see. Home to several residences and projects throughout the academic year, the space is open for visitors from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, throughout the academic year.
